I’m going to tell you a little secret on “trends”. Fashion changes, but a great body never goes out of style. Here’s a secret about getting a great body. It doesn’t have to cost a ton of money. Forget those high end gyms with guys and gals drinking their muscle shakes or those trendy gyms that got you jumping around like a kangaroo. Most of those places cost hundreds of dollars a month! Don’t waste your money! My formula is simple: Hounds and trails. A simple formula that is easy to do. Let’s break it down Repo stylez…
Adopt a hound
Don’t have a hound? Adopt one! There are millions of furry hounds just waiting for you. Owning a hound is so good at getting your fitness level up to the gold standard. First, having a hound means you get sick less. Second, having a hound lowers your blood pressure. Finally, hounds, especially active types like retrievers and bullies, demand exercise which mean that you will get in phenomenal shape when you because you will get “hounded” into getting off your butt.
Routine
Strap a hydro pack and a doggie pack (for your new beast) and get to steppin. All that is required is time, good shoes, and a positive attitude to get rolling. As a starting point of training I would aim for…every dog on day of the week! You want a good dog that don’t trash the house right? That’s what I thought. Here’s your treat 🙂
Trails
Now I know that not everyone is going to have the mountains of Hawaii to go wild in but a good alternative would be urban city trails. For hiking trails in Arizona, I would recommend Piestewa Peak (Hard), Camelback Mountain (Hard), Thunderbird Mountain (Easy), and Waterfall Trail (Easy). For Oahu I would recommend Puu Maelieli Trail (Med-Hard), Diamond Head (Easy), and Hamama Falls Trail (Easy). Want to find a good trail in your area? Final thoughts
As a dog owner, I can’t even describe all the wonderful benefits of owning a dog. Most people don’t know that my previous hound Nico AKA “Beast” AKA “Shooboo” passed away. He was everything I wanted in a dog and my fitness level was sky high because of him. My new rescue, Hilo AKA “Pumpkin” is also pretty awesome and has helped me with my fitness tremendously. I always recommend adopting first before going to a reputable breeder since there are so many dogs that are in need of a good home for a fraction of the cost. Rescues will also love you unconditionally and will provide you with a lifetime of laughs and happiness. As a side note, never buy from a pet store, do not support puppy mills and be sure that you have the finacial security and stability to own a hound. Happy trails!
