After almost 5 years of adventures, my beloved Nexi has finally bit the dust. Everything was fine with her and all of a sudden, when I touched down to a brand new country, she went haywire! I can’t even swipe the screen anymore without it going crazy.
Sad day indeed. So with that said I am looking for a replacement phone in the next few months when I get back to the states. I have researched several phones recently and this is what I came up with. Tell me what you think or if you have any suggestions, please comment below.
- Moto X Pure Edition: Gizmodo states, “does android better than Google.” I’ve seen these phone on sale for a little over $300 which is the same price I paid for my Nexus 4. Great camera but afraid of the dark.
- Moto G4: I bought my wife this cheap phone for $200 bucks when her Nexus 4 died and she loves it. Expandable memory and pretty much a stripped down Moto X without the horsepower. Tempting.
- Refurbished Samsung S5: This phone cost $800 2 years ago. Great camera, amazing AMOLED screen, and a true premium phone. The issue is that this phone is refurbished and I don’t think they update software with this phone anymore. Still fast though.
- Google Nexus 5x: Solid, all around performer and the true heir replacement for the Nexus 4. A low price of $279 on Amazon for the 16GB. It also includes a fingerprint sensor, and a good camera. For my money though, I want great not good…
- Google Nexus 6P: Now we’re talking. Great camera, fast processor, aluminum frame and an amazing screen yes! It’s also creeping up to $500 for the 32GB version. Burns my pockets…
- Google Pixel: Not out until 4 October, this phone will have the latest and greatest that google has to offer. Made by HTC and a true Google product line. It will be the fastest, greatest phone Google has ever created. No true price yet but I expect the Pixel and the Pixel XL to run around $450-550 respectively. Do I deserve it? Is it worth the wait?
- IPhone 7: Just announced today! This phone is gonna be the hottest thing from Apple. Fast processor? Check. Super sweet dual lens camera? Check. Water resistant? Check. Phone jack non-existent? Boo. $650-850 price tag? Whoa. I think I just fainted.
So what do you think? Comment below! I’m going wait until 4 October for the launch and see how the new Google Pixel reviews and go from there. It’s a tough decision and to be honest I may even hold off until Christmas…maybe.
