- Toyota Corolla CE: Early 2000’s with a manual transmission and manual
everything will not die. My family owns a 2006 and it’s still running strong
after 9 years. Cheap tires and cheap parts makes this car my top choice for
commuting. - Toyota Camry 2000-2010: Top selling car in America and the numbers don’t
lie. We also have one in the family lot and they are fantastic in terms of
reliability. Boring in terms of driving dynamics but easy on the wallet. - Lexus LS 1998-2006: Have you heard of Matt Farrah’s million mile Lexus?
These cars will go to the moon and back comfortably. Luxury at its finest for
a 10th of the price new. Definitely my next car. - Ford Crown Victoria: If you pay close attention when visiting bigger
cities, most taxis and law enforcement vehicles use them exclusively. The next
time you jump into a taxi in New York, you may see some with over 500K miles. - Toyota 4runner: This work horse is also in the family lot. My Mom has
owned one since 1999 and still running strong. Gas mileage is horrible but it
is an SUV. - Toyota Land Cruiser: So I walk around at my undisclosed deployed location
and you know what I see? Land Cruisers. They are everywhere. They will not
die even at the harshest environment. Oh and they’re huge. Fits 8 people
easily. - Mazda Miata: Good things come is small packages. Fun, simple, and a
convertible? You can’t go wrong. - Mazda 6 2014: I owned one for a few years and I never had a problem with
it. Great looks and driving dynamics are top notch. Get the manual for better
engagement. I see these selling for around 15-16k. - Mazda 3: My wife has one and we have never had any issues other that vent
that won’t adjust right. Sporty, agile, and the wagon version makes a
great hauler. - Pontiac Vibe/Matrix: Did you know that this is the same car as the Toyota
Matrix? Did you also know that the Toyota Matrix is pretty much a Toyota
Corolla Wagon? These cars will last you a long time and the perfect
bookend to my top 10.
