This post was actually written by Mrs. Repo. I asked her to give me some ideas for a cost effective and fun date night and when I read it, I felt that it made for an already great little article. So without further a due, here are Mrs. RF’s top 3 date ideas. Unedited…for the most part.
Okay, I finally came up with 3 dates. I tried to make this my own as much as possible. The third one I’m pretty sure I saw not too long ago. I’m not sure why this was so challenging but I liked thinking and coming up with a list. We’ve done some pretty neat things so I’m not sure why I was having amnesia.
But I did think of other things that I enjoyed but some of them required money and I wanted to make the list as budget friendly as possible. I added an explanation with each date.
Movie and dinner nigh
Hit up Redbox for a movie or pull out some older movies you have in your collection. When it comes to dinner, make your (as a couple–might have to compromise on this one) favorite meal together. I would also throw dessert in there because who doesn’t like dessert?
This is one of my favorite things to do because it’s not only budget friendly but it’s intimate. You aren’t in a loud restaurant surrounded by a bunch of strangers. I love having movie and dinner nights in with you, especially around Christmas time. I love getting out our favorite Christmas movies and curling up on the couch with a blanket, next to you.
Location adventures
Live near the beach? Take a walk on the boardwalk or on the beach at night. The sound, view, and smell are relaxing and romantic. Live near the mountains? Go on a night hike together. The skyline and mountain view is beautiful and great to be shared with your spouse/significant other.
Celebrate the hard work of the hike with a stop for ice cream on the way home 😉 Live in the boonies? Get a blanket and lay it out either in your backyard or bed of the truck and check out the stars and night sky. The further away from the city the better, because it’s quiet and peaceful. If you have a fire pit, make a fire and make Smores. Mmmm!
Be a blessing for others
Volunteer together for your favorite organization. Taking time to help others is always a good thing and doing it together as a couple is fun! I enjoyed accompanying you to the USO. There’s quite a few volunteer opportunities out there, and so many organizations that need help every day/ weekend.
I think at the end of the day as long as you silence your phones, put the tablets away, and spend quality time with each other, you will enjoy whatever date you create together. Keyword is quality. Communicate, catch up, tell your spouse or significant other how much they mean to you. We aren’t promised tomorrow, so make the most of each day you are given.
Okay..that’s the list. If you have any questions let me know. I love you and miss you so much! I know I say it everyday but I really cannot wait till you come home. I’m ready for this family of 3 to be together again.
